My working career started with the Midas Group Head Office where I held different management positions in Sales, Product management and development, Warehouse Distribution, Group Purchasing and Distribution. After 25 years with the group, I started searching for new challenges and was involved in setting up and managing different types of businesses.

During my time at the Midas Group, I was fortunate to attend certain Business Management Programmes at the University of Cape Town (*Programme for Management Development and *Finance Management). I also attended certain programmes through Damelin Business School.

In 1998, I decided to relocate to Durban and was naïve in terms of what challenges I would be facing in a completely new territory with no knowledge of the market and/or what opportunities existed.

This to me was a challenging experience and I had the opportunity to join Mike Hindle at Aldes Business Brokers. During my time at Aldes Business Brokers, I was able to meet different people and this allowed me to learn about the various types of businesses in KZN.
In 2002 I started a small company which grew successfully and my wife then joined me in 2005. We managed the business successfully for 16 years until we started having labour issues. The demands were unrealistic and unsustainable. A decision was then made to close the doors as we were not prepared to invest more time and money in an on-going problem. This was a very difficult decision which was not taken lightly but was however, necessary.
I was of the opinion that I was ready for retirement, but this was not the case. I started a small home based business which was primarily to keep me busy and not to lose all the experience I acquired over approximately 30 years. I did market research for overseas principals. This was another challenge as whilst I was previously involved in the Automotive Industry during my time with the Midas Group,
I did not have reasonably updated knowledge of the market. The research projects were challenging and the feedback from the overseas clients was very positive as the results on the projects which we completed were above what they expected. This however, is not regular and very infrequent.
Old acquaintances never die.

I made contact with Mike Hindle and joined Affiliated Business Brokers so that I can continue to maintain and improve my business skills and experiences. I have a phrase “where old fashion service meets modern technology”. Personal service is still the key to a successful business relationship
